What is a Chair? I am a chair.

Who created “A Chair’s Life”? My name is Charity Ring but most of my friends call me “Chair”. Thus I came up with the name for my site “A Chair’s Life.” I am the Office Manager at ActiveLAMP, a web development company. I also help my brother Brian for his company, drivenIT. I have also done some contract web design and graphic arts for him as well.

How did I become interested in web design and graphic arts? I started working for an ISP as a technician in the summer of 1998 and was allowed 5 megs of personal web space. I threw together a site while reading “Teach Yourself HTML in 24 Hours.” I taught myself how to use Adobe Photoshop and soon realized that I could make my own unique graphics instead of using the thousands of free graphics on the Internet that thousands of other people were using as well. Within two years of working at the ISP I became known for my graphics and was promoted to Graphic Artist working on layout and design of soft and hard copy for the ISP’s look and feel. Since working for an ISP my site has had a few transformations but when I registered www.achairslife.com I realized that I wanted an entire new look for my site.

What is “A Chair’s Life” all about? It is a creation for me to express myself. Whether it is through graphics or just photographs that I want to share with the world or a way for me to vocalize my beliefs, desires, and expectations of life.

On a more personal note about myself I am a born-again Christian. I believe whole-heartedly that Jesus died on the cross for my sins. I have asked him into my heart and try to serve Him with everything that is in me. Though at times I fail miserably, I know Jesus loves me no matter what mistakes I’ve made or keep making. I am a pastor’s daughter. And no, I do not fit the “Pastor’s Daughter” stigma. ;) I'm not a wild child by any means. My church is called “The Place” (click the name to learn more about my church). My love in life is photography and a big part of my site is dedicated to that. I haven’t been able to take pictures that often these days. It is a dream of mine to take my camera with me everywhere I go to capture the little images and scenes that I see on a daily basis and put together a series of “A Day in the Life of the High Desert.” Now some people may say “Why the desert?” Well I have found beauty in the desert since I moved here in 1991. It has to grow on you though. That’s for sure!
